Scarlette grimanced when she heard 'soup in a jar'. It sounded utterly disgusting. "Actually," she started, setting the roast on the table and giving him a quick kiss, "you just made me want to come home and make dinner even more. Soup in a jar sounds horrid. I wouldn't want you suffering through that." She said. Scarlette grabbed herself a glass of water and took a seat at the table.

"Oh thank Merlin." He said as he started to cut into the roast. Placing some on her plate, as well as his own. "I don't know if I could really bare getting muggle money, and going into a muggle store and buying muggle food. It all sounds like some horrible nightmare. Besides I can only imagine what my parents and their friends would think if they ever found out." He said as he cut up a small piece of the roast and placed it in his mouth, chewing slowly. He swallowed before continuing. "I'd probably starve before I'd actually going into a muggle shop."

Scarlette laughed and shook her head. "There's the Draco I know." She smiled and cut up a tiny piece of roast, taking it in a bite. It actually wasn't too bad and she was relieved. She only hoped it was alright for Draco also. She was proud of herself at least, she'd successfully learned to make another meal, and could add it to the list of things to make for dinner. Ari was quite glad that Draco liked her cooking. She knew it was nothing compared to the luxeries he'd had while living under his parents' roof, but she hoped it was good enough for him.

It didn't seem to take long for Draco to finish his food and his glass of Firewhiskey. "Your foods always delicious." He said as he pushed his plate a little further away from him. He summoned another glass of Firewhiskey as he started to finally relax after his day. "Your birthday's soon." He stated matter-of-factly. "Did you have anything in mind? I wasn't quite sure if you wanted a party or not. And even if you did I'm not sure who to invited. Of course there is the standard list of faithful pureblood familes, but it's your day and we should be doing what you want and not making some political event out of it."

Scarlette finished her food shortly after Draco did, and flicked her wand to clear the plates and the table, she'd get to washing and storing food later. "Well thank you, I'm glad you enjoy it." She commented on the food. "Honestly, Draco, I didn't have anything in mind for my birthday. It's just another year. No need to throw some party. Just a number." She shrugged. Scarlette loved affection, from Draco. What she didn't love was a whole lot of attention, from other people. She prefered to stay quiet and under the radar as she had been all her life.

"Yes, but you know how my family is. They love having any reason to get together and brag to other people about how much better us Malfoy's are compared to everyone else. And mom knows that your birthday is soon, and we both know she can be a bit... over the top." He added, as he rose from his chair; drink in hand and headed to the living room to relax in his chair. The fireplace was popping and cracking and Draco found it soothing to just sit and listen to it.

Scarlette got up and followed him into the living room. She took a seat on the couch, facing him. "Well if your mother wants to do something, I won't protest." She smiled. "I haven't seen her in a while anyway, it'd be nice to see her. I rather miss having a mother figure in my life...never had that before." She closed her mouth shut then. She hoped she wasn't saying too much. Scarlette mentally scolded herself, telling herself to chill out and that this was her fiance she was talking to, if she couldn't share stuff with him, who could she talk to? She gave him a small smile and then stared at the fire.

Draco raised his brow in surprise. His mother was much better than his father, but he still didn't think she was like how most mother's were. "You really find my mother...motherly?" While Draco had heard many people say many things about the Malfoy's, no one had ever said anything about them being the ideal family. "Well mom seems to like you. I haven't heard any complaints yet." He said giving her a small smile. "But who knows with my father. He might have some weird thing against Sna-Severus for being the spy everyone assumed he was." Though Draco never really said anything before, he had admired Snape for putting himself in danger to protect the son of the woman he loved. And even though Draco didn't in anyway consider himself a romantic found the story very enchanting.

Scarlette smiled softly, still staring at the fire. "In her own strange way, yes, Narcissa can be motherly. She welcomed me quite openly, which was reassuring on my end. I realize your father may have issues because of the man who raised me, but I take comfort in knowing that, well your mother seems to like me well enough." She said with a small smile. She felt kind of vulnerable talking about all of this. Especially without full disclosure to Draco about her 'father'. She knew she ought to tell him, but she just couldn't bring herself to do so. Not today. Not right now. But when?

Draco thought back to his old Potions master, and wondered what it must of been like to grow up with him. Draco always remembered Snape being extremely strict and always seemed to have a very scheduled life. Always keeping his emotions to himself. But he assumed that was just because he was a Slytherin himself. And as everyone knew, Slytherin's weren't overly affectionate or emotionally involved with many people. "What was your dad like growing up? I don't remember you saying to much about Snape. And you know all about my family." He said, his eyes searching hers for answers.
