Ari swallowed and nodded. "I should know, too. But whatever happens, Draco...I'm still me. Even if you or anyone else can't see it. Whoever my birth parents are...they're not me. They're not who raised me." She bit her lip, sorry for saying too much, and stood up, moving to an old desk that used to belong to Severus. She'd hardly touched it since his death two years ago, except to wipe the dust off of it. Information could be anywhere. The only true way to know would be to find out from Severus himself, but he was no longer around to tell her. She wondered if there were any clues in her background she could search through. Biting her lip some more, she sat down in the desk chair, opening the drawers that were unlocked, and carefully looking through whatever lay within. She figured whatever it was, it wouldn't out in the open, but heavily guarded. A heavily guarded secret...that's all she'd ever been.

"You might be the same person but your parentage is important. While I might be fine with whoever your parents are, my family wont be okay with it being just anyone. My mother would probably still accept you. But we both know how my father is..." He walked over to the desk, standing behind her. He didn't think that they would find what they were looking for quite so easily. If anything, Severus Snape was good at keeping a secret. Though Draco didn't know where he should be looking. He figured with his couple of years as a curse breaker he'd be able to detect any wards that were concealing the papers. "You know that I'm still going to love you regardless, right? Like you said, this changes nothing between us."

Scarlette nodded listening to his comment about parentage. She continued to rifle through papers, not finding anything noteworthy. She reached to open the bottom drawer on the left side and found it locked. Wordlessly performing Alohamora on it, she tried again. Still locked. Whatever was inside it wasn't something Severus had wanted out in the open, a glimmer of hope shone through in her eyes. "You know that I'm still going to love you regardless, right? Like you said, this changes nothing between us." Ari looked up at her fiance, and gave him a small smile. But a smile wasn't enough for how that statement made her feel. She stood up, wrapping her arms around his neck and placing a soft kiss on his lips. Only one quick moment. "Thank you, Draco. I know it was probably silly of me to even doubt for a second, but thank you." She sat back down, and searched through the top drawer, trying to find a key to the bottom drawer. She found no such key and frowned. "As much as I doubt there's anything note-worthy in there, the fact that the bottom drawer there is locked still leaves me curious. And simple spells won't unlock it. I already tried."

Draco quickly embraced her, returning her kiss before looking back at the locked drawer. He knew Severus wouldn't of made this easier for them. Draco pulled out his wand and pointed it at the drawer. "Effodiunt insolubilia." He muttered, as a orange light shot out from the tip of his wand and hit the drawer. He went to pull it open but it was still sealed shut. He ran a hand through his hair before raising his wand again. "Mando serenitas." A violet light errupted from his wand and left a burnt mark where the lock once was. He slid the door open easily, and took a look at what was in side. Several books laid atop a pile of papers and photographs. "Well that wasn't too hard."

Scarlette smiled. "Thanks love." She recognized the book on the top. It was Severus' old potions book. She grabbed that first, and opened it to see 'Property of The Half-Blood Prince' written in his handwriting on the inside. She smiled sadly. The book wasn't too large, so she flipped through the pages quickly, glancing at all his writing, to see if there was anything odd or out of place. There was. A spell, written in there, was not in his handwriting. "Have a look at this, Draco." She said, pointing it out to him. "Sectumsempra, for enemies. It's not in Severus' handwriting. But if he didn't write it, who did? And why is it in here?" She knew these weren't questions he could answer, but they were questions she was wondering. She left the book open on that page and moved to the next book in the drawer. It was a journal. She opened it to find scrawled on the first page, in the same handwriting as the spell was written in, Lorelai Brigham, 1971. "Lorelai Brigham? 1971. That's the year Severus started school. But why did he have a girl's journal dated back to that year?" She frowned. The closer they got to the truth, the more puzzling it became.

Draco summoned a chair and pulled up beside Ari. He took the Advanced Potions book, in his hand and saw two different types of script along the margin. His eyes kept reading over elegant writing. "Sectumsempra." He muttered, as he said it over again in his head. He looked over quickly at her. "I know this spell. Potter got me with this in our sixth year!" He spat, his eyes suddenly filled with hatred. "If Snape didn't show up and reverse the spell I probably would of died of blood lost..." He said, as she pulled out the diary from the drawer. "Brigham..." He muttered, "I don't think I've ever heard of any purebloods with the last name Brigham before." He said, as he set the Advanced Potions book back on the desk. "What's in the diary?"

Ari's eyes went wide. "That was the spell?" She looked horrified. "I remember, Potter was doing so well in Potions...he must've been the one that had this book." She shook her head and scowled, before looking back at the diary. She flipped through a few pages. "It looks like she started Hogwarts the same year Severus did. So they must've known each other. Sorted into Slytherin..." She flipped through a few more pages. "It's blank after a while, and then...1975, they would've been in their fifth year. Looks like they were friends. Good friends. She even calls Severus Snape her best friend in here. There's plots against Potter...James, must be." She continued to skim through it. "That's it, nothing really interesting. If she was his best friend, why haven't I heard of her? From the history in the first year though, it looks like she's pureblood." She continued to scowl, setting the journal aside. This was just too confusing. Skipping the next few books and papers, Scarlette picked up a few pictures. A gorgeous young girl with brunette hair and brown eyes scowled up at her, clearly annoyed with the photographer. She looked at the next picture, it was clearly Severus Snape, with a smug look on his face, possibly taken right after the one of the girl. Ari flipped the first picture over. Scrawled in Severus' handwriting was "Lorelai Brigham, 5th Year...unhappy with me taking a picture of her." "Found her." Scarlette said, staring at the girl. She had the same hair that Ari battled with daily. She couldn't stop staring at the picture. "This is Lorelai. Why is there a drawer, seemingly dedicated to her?" She kept staring at the picture as if it would answer all her questions.

Draco looked over the diary and the pictures looking between the woman in the photograph and to his fiance. “Sort of looks like you, doesn’t she?” He asked as he stared down at the scowling woman. “I’ve definitely have seen that look before.” He said nudging Ari lightly with his elbow. He picked up the diary and flipped thorugh it. “Not a whole lot in here, eh. Though if she’s a Slytherin I wouldn’t keep all of my personal thoughts in a diary either.” He muttered, before setting it back down. “You think there was something going on between Snape and this Lorelai? I don’t know why else he would have a drawer devoted to her, and why it was so heavily guarded.”

Scarlette puzzled over the picture. "Yeah, she kind of does." She didn't want to admit, but she found it rather frightening how similar Lorelai seemed to look to herself, in her own eyes. They had similar noses, hair color, almost even similar lip shape. She tore her eyes from the picture to answer Draco's question. "Um, maybe. I don't know, I thought he liked Lily..." Her voice trailed off. "Unless Lorelai is my...my mother." It was hard to get the words out. "But why would he hide that from me?"

Draco shrugged his shoulders. "Snape kept a lot of stuff secretive. Who knows why this woman is a secret. To bad he didn't leave a letter in a will or something after he passed. It would of made it a whole lot easier on you." He said, his eyes on the book, diary and picture. He picked up the diary again. Flipping through the pages. "Maybe there is a spell on it to hide the writing or something..." He spoke, trying to be as helpful as possible. He picked up his wand, pointing it at the diary. "Aparecium." When nothing happened flicked his wand again, "Specialis Revelio."
